da Vinci® Surgical System

The da Vinci® Surgical System is a minimally invasive robotic surgery method that allows surgeons to perform once complex and delicate operations through smaller incisions with unmatched precision.

By providing surgeons with superior visualization (a magnified high definition 3D view) inside the body, maximum precision, enhanced dexterity, and ergonomic comfort, the da Vinci® robotic technology offers surgeons better control than was previously possible using traditional surgical approaches.  The surgeon’s hand movements are translated into the smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the patient’s body.  Providing surgeons with these enhanced capabilities makes it possible to treat a wider range of conditions using a minimally invasive approach.

In short, by combining cutting edge robotic and computer technologies, the da Vinci® System creates an entirely new category of surgical treatment (i.e. robotic assisted gynecological surgery such as laparoscopic surgery, hysterectomy, and thoracoscopic or endoscopic surgery).  This surgical system provides an alternative to both traditional open surgery and conventional laparoscopic surgery.  Surgeons are 100% in control of the da Vinci® Surgical System at all times.

Patients may be candidates for da Vinci® robotic surgery if they have certain gynecological issues including: pelvic pain, pelvic organ prolapse, fibroids, and/or abnormal bleeding.  This innovative surgical system may be used to assist in the following gynecological procedures:

  • da Vinci® Hysterectomy (Benign)
  • da Vinci® Single Site® Surgery Hysterectomy (Benign)
  • da Vinci® Hysterectomy (Cancer)
  • da Vinci® Endometriosis Resection
